AI Controls and Fundamental Rights Impact Assessments

Fort Privacy helps organisations identify and implement the data protection and AI-specific controls needed to govern AI use across the business. We conduct Fundamental Rights Impact Assessments that evaluate the potential impact of high-risk AI systems on the fundamental rights of affected individuals — including the rights to privacy, non-discrimination, dignity, equality and access to an effective remedy. Our FRIAs are aligned with the EU AI Act requirements and draw on established methodologies including the ALTAI framework developed by the EU Commission's High-Level Expert Group on AI.

Beyond the FRIA itself, we help organisations establish the broader suite of AI controls needed to manage AI responsibly. This includes:
•    assessing the lawful basis for AI-related personal data processing
•    evaluating automated decision-making against GDPR Article 22 requirements
•    reviewing data quality and bias risks in training data and AI outputs
•    ensuring transparency and explainability obligations are met for individuals affected by AI-driven decisions
•    integrating AI controls into your existing data protection and information security frameworks.

Where AI systems are procured from third-party providers, we assess the vendor's compliance posture and ensure that contractual arrangements adequately address AI-specific risks and responsibilities.

Our approach ensures that your AI controls and impact assessments are not standalone exercises but are embedded into your broader GRC programme — creating a joined-up compliance approach that reduces duplication and gives your organisation a clear, defensible position as the regulatory landscape for AI continues to develop.
